Discuss the history of The Surgeon General’s Office Library.

The Surgeon General’s Office Library was founded in 1836 when Joseph Lovell bought reference books and magazines for his office. Ten years later, the Library printed its first catalog containing more than 2,000 volumes. During the First World War, the Library accumulated valuable knowledge in the field of medicine. In 1956 the Library became the National Library of Medicine, preserving medical knowledge.
