I think good architects are artists as well as construction experts. They create buildings that are efficient and comfortable places to live or work, as well as aesthetically pleasing structures that reflect both classic design elements and contemporary trends. An architect exploits on a grand scale many of the same elements central to photography – shape, line, texture, and pattern. The noonday sun, on the other hand, is less auspicious for picture-taking since its harsh light and minimal shadows tend to flatten a scene. In general, though, when one needs to convey the emotional feeling of a location, one needs the skill of those who specialize in commercial location photography.
