Developing Pre-Professional Identity

Think back to aspects of your volunteer or work experience that you found satisfying or unsatisfying. Take into account what you’ve learned about your own attributes, values, and skills. Create a career path research report.

Consider the focus and impact of the work you aspire to do. Research the different ways your discipline is applied in practice, i.e., what is the range of organizations that employ people with the disciplinary knowledge you are studying, and what is the breadth of the work those organizations do? Describe your professional identity (Professional identity is a complex concept including elements such as passion, motivation, attributes, values, and skills). What is your current thinking about the type of career and organization that would be suitable for you (size, culture, type of work, location, etc.)?
