The goal of the first wave of feminism was to ensure the political rights of women. This wave took place between the 19th and 20th centuries, and at that time, women’s role was to support their families and raise children. They were not allowed to vote and elect government officials, which was the main concern of the first feminists. The second wave aimed at ensuring that women have social rights equal to those of men and legal protection for females. This wave began in the 1960s, the times when social rights movements were active. Together with feminism, the community of African-Americans also pursued the protection of their rights and equality. Finally, the third wave of feminism began during the 1990s, and its goal was to change the perception of women and femininity. The ideas of this wave are a continuation of those pursued by second-wave feminists. However, modern-day feminists live in a technologically advanced environment, where their ideas can be disseminated more easily than before.
