I could think of one way of using a simple linear regression model to help me make better health choices. Some time ago, I stumbled upon a piece of research that showed that regular exercise correlated with better sleep quality. While it is now pretty established that physical activity improves the quality of life. Yet, as it seems to be, the level and intensity required for sound sleep may as well be unique for each individual. Personally, I would like to test how the number of hours that I spend working out correlates with my sleep quality. Thus, below is a possible outline for my mini self-research:

Independent variable: workout activity (hours per week);
Dependent variable: quality of sleep (weekly average score logged by a smartphone and fitness band health application). Since sleep quality covers many aspects (length of sleep, quality of breath, number of wakeups during the night), it is better to use a score that factors all of them in;
Data collection and analysis: unloading all data on my workout activity and sleep scores in Excel and building a regression model using an additional package such as DataMiner.
