Although the leadership of Wells Fargo was complacent in the scandal, it is apparent that the bank did not have systems in place to cross-check if the figures given by employees were accurate. It is one thing to set goals for employees to meet and another thing to verify if the goals are actually being met. This is a challenge to all organizational leaders that even as they set goals, it is significant to ensure that the goals are being acted upon. If the Wells Fargo managers had been serious about this, then they would have curbed the falsification of customer documents and fake claims by employees.
