Initially, eBay operated an online model of buying and selling through an auction. The model changed, and the company is running a fixed price model popularized by Amazon. The company used to sell used items through auction but now, due to the changed model, the company buys and sells new items; 80% of the company sales comprise new items. The company has modernized its platform with analytical tools. It has converted the catalog of goods to a structural data format different from the unstructured listing format, which was its traditional way of listing goods. The company has adopted the use of Al in various departments, such as ShopBot, and it has also diversified its payment means.
