From my perspective, the issues of criminal acts and the ethical perspective largely depend on the conditions of the criminality itself. A crime is defined as the violation of a law, which is subject to change in its official interpretation and public perception. However, the laws are not perfect and cannot, in their interpretation, describe all possible cases.
Therefore, it is necessary to use a more flexible system and consider the situation’s circumstances. For example, I want to consider the criminal behavior associated with survival, which has recently been somewhat decriminalized due to poor social conditions. At first, glance, stealing a loaf of bread from a homeless, hungry person is not a crime because they need to eat.
However, from my point of view, the conditions for committing this theft are essential here. If a person had no alternatives, the law should be relaxed. But if this act manifests habitual behavior, criminal justice should be fully applied.
Therefore, from my perspective, the boundary between criminal behavior and survival and other ethical principles must be drawn based on the environment and the availability of alternatives. If a person could save their lives only through a crime, then the law should treat them considering the circumstances and not label them a criminal.
