Can you think of ways that classical conditioning is used by politicians? Advertisers? Movie Makers? Do ethical issues arise from any of these uses?

The present government’s employment of aggressive propaganda in politics is an excellent example. If the government has a policy that has produced positive outcomes, it will endeavor to implement it by pushing it constantly, thus creating a human-created conditioned stimulus. People believe that this government is doing a good job for them, and they will vote for it again in the next election cycle.

The main goal behind advertising is to make a nice commercial that offers joy to the person who sees it. Advertising that is pleasing to the eye acts as an unconditioned stimulus, and pleasure is an unconditioned reaction. For instance, the purchase of a new iPhone. In movie-making, because people prefer to identify with the main character, they feel the same emotions and hormone release as if they were actually experiencing the same events, although at a lower level. As a result, an unconditional response is created.
