Good news is that the society is evolving and people are getting more tolerant (especially when kids in school are getting older). That’s not to say that bullies are getting extinct completely, however it’s not as bad as you’re afraid it to be.
The last thing you want to do is to have a mindset of a target from the very beginning. Act confident and stay calm, try to reach out to people to make new connections and friends. If you make a good first impression, the chances of getting bullied are low.
Bullies are usually unhappy with their own lives in one way or another, so they try to make it the same for the others. You don’t want to show them you’re weak or insecure. Don’t give them extra reasons to pick on you. It’s not that you have to hide who you are, but there’ no reason to brag about being different either.
If it so happens that you still have to encounter the issue of bullying, reach out for help. You can either talk to your classmates and tell them about the problem, or go straight to your teacher. Just don’t keep quiet.
To sum up, go to school with a positive mindset and you’ll be fine. Good luck!
