Over the course of examining medical coding topics, the two topics of utmost value included the notions of ICD-11 and MACRA. ICD-11 stands for the International Classification of Diseases, representing a global blueprint for coding information about health status and mortality rates worldwide. MACRA, on the other hand, also known as the Permanent Doc Fix, is a coding payment system that facilitates payment change from quantity to quality.
Both these topics are explicitly connected to coding compliance and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), as while ICD-11 helps systematize and arrange healthcare data across the world, MACRA provisions encourage professionals to comply with coding in order to receive payment for the service. While both topics were not new to me, the clarifications concerning ICD-11 books helped me define safety measures regarding coding the information.
