There is still space for improvement in my organization’s interprofessional practice framework. At the moment, many nurses and physicians do not have the necessary training and guidelines for interprofessional collaboration, and thus, team processes are somewhat unpredictable. For example, some teams struggle with communication as patients’ complaints or concerns are not shared between team members. These types of problems may threaten patient safety and clinical outcomes, and it is crucial to use a more structured approach to interprofessional collaboration. First of all, creating organizational guidelines and procedures for interprofessional collaboration would help to improve oversight. Secondly, the organization should provide training aimed at developing specific competencies required for effective collaboration, such as communication and teamwork. Both processes would help to implement interprofessional collaboration in a well-structured way, thus improving group processes, reducing communication barriers, and enhancing teamwork outcomes.
