ANOVA was used for analysis by Mayland et al. in the “Assessing the quality of care for dying patients from the bereaved relatives’ perspective” study. Would t-tests have also been appropriate? Provide a rationale for your answer.

During the course of the investigation, we had to compare and evaluate several groups that could provide us with the needed data. However, using t-tests, we could also compare the groups pairwise. Thus, it could increase the probability of Type I error because of the great number of similar analyses. For this reason, the application of t-tests would have been less reliable and appropriate in the given case.
