Analyse how the HR function varies between organisations. Include a comparison of HR delivery in different sectors and organisations of different sizes.

The operations of human resource (HR) staff is critical for all organisations, as they make decisions about the individuals working in the company. The primary function of HR managers is to hire appropriate personnel based on the company’s values, needs, and goals. In some organisations, HR staff members are also responsible for other functions, such as processing payrolls. It is possible to say that in today’s world that is developing under the influence of globalisation, competition among companies, technological progress, and enhanced research, the role of HR is significant and complicated. They should be aware of the tendencies among staff members within a company, such as the possible lack of labour force, poor dedication to work, and decreased loyalty to the organisation. In addition, HR managers should understand the effect of ethical issues that may arise and prevent potential problems. The significance of ethical, professional, and just HR management will be discussed in detail below.

Management of Companies of Different Sizes

In big and small companies, HR staff should be focused on ensuring positive relationships between more experienced and new employees, providing in-house training, and following the principles of inclusivity and diversity. At the same time, it is crucial to note that in organisations of different sizes or the ones operating in different segments, the HR function may vary. For instance, in smaller organisations, such as new or developing local businesses, HR managers may perform other functions besides the recruitment of the personnel. The reason for it is that such companies may not need to hire individuals often, especially when there is a low turnover rate. As in small organisations, individuals tend to fulfil several roles because there is a limited number of people working in departments; HR managers may serve as administrative assistants or bookkeepers in addition to their primary tasks. In larger companies, however, there are many management layers determining the function of the HR department. For instance, HR staff members may include recruiters, assistants, managers, and other types of professionals.

Management of Companies of Different Sectors

HR management of companies operating in various sectors is different, as each sector has its own peculiarities. For instance, the financial sector is associated with constant changes and transformation, so it is vital for HR staff to hire individuals prepared for such working conditions. Moreover, one of the primary roles of HR managers operating in this sector may potentially be the implementation of changes and the development of plans for organisational growth. In comparison, the technology sector is associated with innovations, and talent is highly valued, which means that the HR department should convince applicants to accept job offers while also completing an in-depth analysis of their skills. These findings show that although HR managers may have similar roles across sectors, they may prioritise different tasks or have different functions according to the sector they work in.
