After the reading, I looked at the history of Americans and Native Americans from a different perspective. When reading a historical account, I would try to analyze each side of the story and think about the vested interests of actors, the intended audience of the source, and the purpose of sharing certain information.

Moreover, the reading shows that history constructs the perception of people about the world. I think this article also demonstrates that people should not accept any historical information as absolute truth since it is not simple and evident. It is crucial that history should be examined from different angles and be presented without any biases and appeal to the audience. Although it is difficult to do this while addressing historical accounts, researchers should find ways of avoiding biases.

With regards to the Trail of Tears, it seems to me that new information found about this story should be revealed to a broader population. The Trail of Tears should be remembered not only as a great tragedy made by American authorities but also as the consequences of capitalism that provoked Native Americans to contribute to slavery.
