While Reich’s music is not something I would listen to daily, for I appreciate more fast-paced and intense tunes, I was still entranced by it. The music is light and dreamy, has many aspects of sounding to it, and calls to the emotions of the listener in a particular, romantic way. The melody is a bit melancholic at times, which also gives you the feeling of lazy comfort and relaxation. I think that Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians evokes various feelings that echo the melancholy of the tune. I think this music would be great to study, as it calms the mind and emotions.
