Affirmative action is a policy specifically created to offer equal opportunities, especially for previously discriminated against people. In the USA, for example, affirmative action was introduced by President Johnson in 1963 to ensure African Americans get equal opportunities. The counter to affirmative action has gone too far and is likely to jeopardize the quest for equality.

America has made steps in achieving political and social equality where people, regardless of their race and gender, can vie for elective posts or get a job in any part of the nation.
