This is because if we believe that God is omnipotent and benevolent, it becomes problematic why he allows such much violence in the world. Hence, the ‘problem of evil’ is evident. As Johnson says, the evil (death of children in disasters) can not be justified by creating moral urgency because, in fact, it would mean that people should refuse medical care and fire brigades. Besides this, if God allowed death for something good, it would contradict the Christian notion of ‘good’ as something absolute and irrespective of evil. Hence, if God is benevolent and omnipotent and the evil continues, then we may assume that God has an evil side, at least if we compare this to human ethical values.
