According to Carolyn Merchant, the author of The Death of Nature what is the relationship of “Feminism” to the “Ecological Movement”?

A

Ecofeminism is a social and political association that tries to join environmentalism and feminism, with deeply linking ecology and feminism. Ecofeminists state that relations exist among the coercion of women and the dilapidation of nature and discover the inter-sectionality among sexism, the authority of nature, racism, speciesism, and other features of social inequality. In some recent work, ecofeminists state that the industrialist and patriarchal structure is grounded on the triple authority of the Global South, women, and nature.

A key principle in ecofeminism argues that male possession of land has led to dominator traditions (patriarchy), positioning itself in food export, over-cropping, the tragedy of the ordinaries, exploitation of people, and an insulting land ethic, in which mammals and land are estimated only as resources. Other ecofeminists argue that the poverty of nature donates to the dilapidation of women. For instance, Thomas-Slayter and Rocheleau describe how in Kenya, the capitalist rules export financial system has reasoned most of the agriculturally creative land to be used for monoculture cash produces. This led to the strengthening of insect killer use, resource reduction, and relocation of continuation farmers, especially women, to the hillsides and less industrious land, where their deforestation and agriculture led to soil corrosion, furthering the ecological degradation that hurts their own efficiency.
