First things first, stick to the basic essay structure: introduction, background information, main thesis, arguments, and conclusion. This step alone will help you make your writing more convincing and concise.

Then construct a detailed outline, which will help you to put those ideas in a logical order and actually make a cohesive essay rather than just a collection of thoughts. Also, don’t forget about quotes or paraphrasing some of the essential points (don’t overuse them, though, the essay still has to contain the majority of your thoughts).
