A deadly shooting occurred in a church that was perpetrated by a self-identified white supremacist. He used the Confederate Flag as a symbol of his ideology which sparked the debate of the flag’s public display and glorification as a symbol of slavery and white supremacy. The few were families and victims of the shooting supported by liberal politicians. The sticky message was that the flag was a celebration of racism. Weak connections are people from all over the country that have no direct relation to the South or racism but sought to offer a vocal opinion on the issue.
